The Living Lantern by NEON Studio is a kinetic light installation featuring a dynamic, wind-responsive outer membrane composed of opening and closing petals that filter light from its luminous core. The biomimetic design creates the impression of controlled breathing as the installation continuously transforms in response to environmental conditions, enhanced by lighting systems developed by Frankie Boyle Studio.
Field Objects managed electrical systems and provided structural support for The Living Lantern's activation in Boston's Downtown Crossing district. Our technical implementation included coordinating power distribution, ensuring reliable electrical connections for lighting controls, timing motion animation, and assisting with the careful packaging and setup of structural components in the urban environment.
