Reimagining space.

We create installations and environments that exist somewhere between architecture and new media, using material transformation to challenge conventional spatial boundaries.

STUDIO

Field Objects is an experimental design studio in Providence, RI. We work in two interconnected modes: as technical collaborators building atmospheric fields through lighting, pneumatics, and interactive systems, and as artists developing original objects that breathe, respond, and transform. By reimagining everyday materials as active participants in space, we create technically ambitious experiences that foster new relationships between people and their environments.

Jay Costello founded Field Objects in 2025. Originally from the Ozarks, Jay is a RISD Presidential Fellow and Olmsted Scholar. They received an MArch with a concentration in digital media from The Rhode Island School of Design and a BLA from the Fay Jones School of Architecture. Jay previously worked as an urban designer on the West Coast and as a technical specialist for new media installations throughout New England.
